Digital artist pplpleasr (A.K.A. Emily Yang) has teamed up with Brut Media to release a limited-edition collection of NFTs which grant access to in-person events at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival which runs from May 17th-28th. To ensure that the funds raised in the sale stay within a circulation which continues to empower female content creators, pplpleasr has opted for all proceeds to be donated to the Annenberg Accelerator Program, which is an initiative set up by the University of Southern California.
The 75 animated Producer Pass NFTs are built on the Ethereum blockchain, and are available to mint via pplpleasr’s own NFT platform Shibuyu. Each NFT will feature an animated loop of a white fox walking down a red carpet, however the more intricate traits of the NFTs will be determined by which tier they are.
‘Bronze’ tier NFTs cost 5 ETH (around $14,000) to mint, and will grant holders with access to the red carpet event, as well as a film screening on the first day of the festival. ‘Silver’ tier NFTs cost 6 ETH to mint ($16,800) and will grant owners access to the red carpet event, as well as the screening of a specific film, such as ‘Top Gun: Maverick,’ ‘Elvis,’ or ‘Three Thousand Years of Longing’.
The most coveted NFT type, the ‘Gold’ tier, will cost 7 ETH ($19,600) to mint, and will grant its owner with access to either the opening or closing ceremony of the 75th Cannes Film Festival (as well as the ceremony’s corresponding red carpet event).
When speaking on the collection and the significance of her role as a prominent female creator within the space, pplpleasr had this to say: “As a female creator, I think it’s so important to have resources and role models we can look up to in any industry. I try to use my voice and platform to show the positive impact NFTs can have on society”.
